Title: “Theraplay-Enhancing Attachment Through Play Therapy”
Description: This workshop will focus on the fundamentals of Theraplay (a form of play therapy) a treatment model that enhances parent/child attachments. It will include its theory, research, underlying principles of Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge, as well as experiential exercises that demonstrate these principles.
Participants will learn:
1. to cover the fundamentals of Theraplay, a form of play therapy, and it’s applications.
2. to cover the importance of touch in human development and related brain research to Theraplay, a form of play therapy.
3. to practice some of the Theraplay, a form of play therapy, activities related to it’s basic principles.
4. to cover the main tenets of group Theraplay, a form of play therapy, and how it can be applied to peer groups and parent/child groups.
Evangeline Munns Ph D, C Psych, RPT/S, is a certified clinical psychologist. She is a registered trainer/supervisor with the Theraplay Institute in Chicago, the Association for Play Therapy in the U.S., and the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy (on the latter she serves on the education committee). She is a popular presenter and has given numerous workshops on play therapy across Canada, United States and internationally. In recent years, much of her time has been spent in training and supervising therapists in Theraplay and /or nondirective and Filial play therapy including teaching as a guest lecturer at Western University in London, Ontario and Sir Wilfred Laurier in Kitchener, Ontario. With over forty years of experience working with children and their families, she offers a rich knowledge in the children’s mental health field. She has served as a consultant to many agencies. Dr. Munns has written numerous articles on Theraplay and has edited two books entitled “ Theraplay: Innovations in Attachment-Enhancing Play Therapy”(2000) and a second book “Applications of Family and Group Theraplay”(2009). In the past she received the Monica Herbert award from the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy (CACPT) for “an outstanding contribution to the field of play therapy in Canada” Recently, she was the first therapist described in a list of the 5 top play therapists in Canada, by CACPT.

Title: “Ethics and Technology in Play Therapy”
Description: Social media, advances in technology, and distance counseling have significantly impacted our society as well as play therapy practice. This workshop will cover the latest research on how technology, such as Facebook, Twitter, texting, and instant messaging, impact ethics and counseling today. Review of an ethical decision-making model and applicable ethical guidelines in relationship to play therapy will be covered.
1. identify potential ethical dilemmas involving technology and play therapy practices
2. learn approaches based on APT Guidelines and professional ethical codes to engage in competent, ethical practice while utilizing play therapy interventions with children.
3. Participate in experiential activities to designed to guide exploration of their own relationship to ethical practices involving technology and play therapy
Sue Holmes, LCPC, NCC is a school counselor at Sunnyside Elementary. She also works for the Idaho Counseling Association as the Executive Director. Sue is an adjunct faculty for Northwest Nazarene University and has taught an online school counseling class and a play therapy class for them. She received her Registered Play Therapy certificate in 2008.

IDAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to play therapy (APT Provider #05-167). 3 CE hours for Ethics and 14 CE hours for the two day conference are available for Social Workers, Counselors, and MFTs.
Free All-Day Parking
There are several free all-day parking lots around the downtown area. Lots are located across Yellowstone Ave along the railroad, behind the Chesbro’s building on Broadway, most streets north of Constitution, corner of D Street and Park and across the street on D Street, corner of E Street and Capital and on the corner of Constitution and Shoup. A new parking lot off Yellowstone Highway by the Railroad tracks, south of Broadway will be constructed in the next 2 years.
The IFDDC operates three paid parking lots in the heart of downtown at 451 B St (near the corner of Capital and B), along Yellowstone Ave between A and B streets, and the Savings Center Lot on the corner of Memorial Drive and A Street. Parking is $1 per hour up to a maximum of $5 per day.
A cancellation must be received in writing no later than March 31, 2013 to receive a refund and is subject to a $35.00 processing fee. No refunds after April 1, 2013. Full refund if the workshop is cancelled.
