April Schottelkorb, Ph.D., LPC (ID, TX), NCC, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor is Associate Professor of Counselor Education and Director of the Idaho Initiative for Play Therapy Studies at Boise State University. Dr. Schottelkorb has 14 years experience counseling children in school and clinical settings. Dr. Schottelkorb is a former board member of IDAPT and has served APT on its’ research, key awards, and conference program committees. Dr. Schottelkorb has an active research agenda focused on the effectiveness of child-centered play therapy with diverse populations, is on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Play Therapy and the Journal of Child and Adolescent Counseling, and received the 2012 APT Research Award for her research titled “Treatment for Childhood Refugee Trauma: A Randomized Controlled Trial.”

 

 

Humanistic Sandtray Therapy: A Play Therapy Method for Pre-Adolescents, Adolescents and Adults

Friday and Saturday April 24th and 25th, 2015 ~ Boise, Idaho

8:30am to 4:15pm both days 12 hrs CEU for both days

 

Description of workshop:

This presentation will focus on a play therapy method appropriate for use with pre-adolescents, adolescents and adults. We will review the rationale for and research supporting sand tray therapy, materials and skills needed to facilitate sessions, and applications for use in clinical and school settings for use with individuals and groups. Attendees will watch videotaped segments of actual sessions and practice skills during this presentation.

 

Day One Learning Objectives:

1. After the workshop, participants will understand the rationale and research supporting humanistic sandtray therapy.
2. After the workshop, participants will have knowledge of materials appropriate for use in humanistic sandtray.
3. After the workshop, participants will know the skills necessary to facilitate and process sandtray sessions with clients.

Discounted Rate – Groups of three or more from the same agency may discount their fee by $15.00 each.  To receive this discount you must use the mail in registration option and mail all group member’s registration forms and payments together.

 

Cancellations

Registration cancellations must be submitted to IDAPT in writing and emailed to Idahoa4pt@gmail.com.
• A $75 administrative fee will be charge, and refunded processed only if the request is postmarked by March 31, 2015.
• Because registrations generate contractual and non-refundable guarantees between IDAPT and other parties, registration refunds will neither be made after April 15, 2015 nor to parties who register but do not attend.
• Registrations may be transferred to another person without penalty only if original registrant notifies IDAPT at Idahoa4pt@gmail.com.
• IDAPT reserves the right to cancel this conference in the event of unforeseen circumstances. If such occurs, IDAPT will attempt to notify registrants at least 10 calendar days prior to the conference and refund all registration fees. In all instances, the liability of IDAPT is limited to refunding such fees.

 

Continuing Education

IDAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to play therapy (APT Provider #05-167).  12 CE hours for the two day conference are available for Social Workers, Counselors, and MFTs.
